What to Consider When Buying Fashion Jewellery?

In my last workshop with students from a reputed fashion designing institute in Delhi, I answered questions about what kind of fashion jewellery to invest in. I’m going to share the same points with my readers that I shared with those students pursuing fashion designing courses.

I started off simple, by explaining that anyone buying fashion jewellery should keep in mind that the jewellery they buy should be simple and versatile, while being stylish. Ensure you buy them in different colours that cover all-year-around occasions and major daily activities. Focus on colours such as silver, gold along with clear, white, black and browns. As a bonus, I told them about the classic pearl necklace, which is a must-have in every fashion enthusiast’s wardrobe, as it goes with your outfit from day to evening, and is versatile enough to work with various fashion looks.

Some of the students though, asked for more detail, being post graduates pursuing MBA in fashion designing at top fashion designing colleges in Delhi. Thus, I outlined some of the fashion jewellery essentials that every fashionista must have in her drawer. These include:

  • Diamond Stud Earrings
  • Pearl Stud Earrings
  • Hoop Earrings
  • Fun, versatile casual earrings
  • Dressy Dangle Earrings
  • Pearl Necklace
  • Diamond Pendant Necklace
  • Versatile Statement Necklace
  • Simple Chain Bracelet
  • Metal Wrist Watch
  • Cocktail Ring

Remember that this is the bare minimum list, and your personal style may differ from this. If you want to look for your personal style, you must consider two things.

  1. Which jewellery complements your face,
  2. And which jewellery complements your body figure and size.

Although, the ones mentioned above will keep you covered on all those inevitable occasions that we all have to face throughout our lives, from wedding parties to your family gatherings.

If you’re looking for short term fashion designing courses in Delhi, there are various institutes that offer such courses. I would recommend going through their course curriculum before deciding which one to enroll in.
